Programmes & Projects

To equip the lay leadership for the tasks involved in enabling the members, congregations, presbyteries and Synod carry out the Ministry of the Church through worship, witness and service

The Lay Training Centre is operating the Wedson Chirambo Guesthouse as an income generating activity

Under the supervision of the Lay Training Centre, the Women Empowerment Programme implements Microfinance and Village Savings and Loans schemes in presbyteries across the Synod

The Lay Training Centre Carpentry&Joinery trains Orphans and Vulnerable Children from across the Synod in a 2-year training programme to become grade III and II carpenters. The programme is accredited by the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Skills. The carpentry workshop functions also as an income generating activity.

Facts & Figures

In 2006, 124 trainers were trained in training methods and a course on basic Christian beliefs
In 2007, 129 trainers were trained in preaching
In 2008, 165 trainers were trained on the importance and conduct of Sunday worship services
These trainers have been holding trainings for other members in their congregations and presbyteries

Strategic Priorities

1. To have a full time training officer in the Lay Training Centre who will produce materials and spend much time in the presbyteries and congregations carrying out trainings.
2. To have effective training committees in each congregation and presbytery with training being adequately prioritized and budgeted for, at Synod, presbytery and congregation level.
3. To provide training for lay leadership on ” Building the Church”
