On 25th June, 2014, the Health Board met at Ekwendeni hospital. As usual, a part of the agenda was taken by the regular quarterly narrative and financial reports from the hospitals. Apart from that, the Board devoted time to discuss a number of strategic issues:
- speeding up progress in the implementation of automated accounting at Embangweni Hospital and DGMH as well
- strategic priorities for Ekwendeni Hospital in response to (1) the opening of Kaweche Health Centre (which has resulted in a significant drop in outpatients) and (2) the unilateral decision by the DHO Mzimba North to end the service level agreement for provision of maternal health services
