Manual for Basic Elder School translated in all Synod Languages

On 26 June 2014, the taskforce Ministers & Leadership Training concluded a 3-day workshop to translate the Basic Elder School manual into all main Synod languages: Lambya, Ngonde, Tumbuka, Tonga, Chewa.

The manual for the Basic Elder School was developed in 2012. In 2013, it was successfully used in a pilot in all 28  congregations of the 3 presbyteries  of Livingstonia, Jombo and Luwerezi. Based on the feedback from the pilot congregations, the manual was revised in May 2014.

In the 3-day workshop a team of 10 translators (2 per language) worked simulataneously on the translations and proofreading of the 9 chapters of the manual. They were assisted by 3 secretaries.

The translated manual will be used in the scale-up of the Basic Elder School to all presbyteries of the Synod in 2014/2015. The scale-up will be launched during 4 consultation meetings with presbyteries and congregations in July 2014.
